Four years later, in spring of 2016, I reread the shit and it occurred to be mostly sophomoric sociopath, Kafkaesque in a very bad way (which DFW himself knew and hated but still indulged in, sad thing for a super smartass).

聪明书。这两天看-lum -dum词看到眼酸，充满学院味儿，抢着分析自我指涉。聪明书只想玩玩，何必呢。没有一本书像这本一样这么适合配册说明书来看。

厌女言论大赏？不知道作者是不是故意的，也许是某种文学实验？故意让人觉得恶心？欣赏不来

文体上的实验是成败各占一半。但DFW调用起不同质感的文字得心应手，写抑郁就用回绕纠结的复合句，写青春期就让纤细的知觉胀满文本，元小说就用过度阐释去表达作者对是否能与读者沟通的焦虑，这是很厉害的。这也是写小说的人都该去磨炼的技巧。
