This play takes readers back and forth between the 19th and 20th centuries. Set in a large country house in Derbyshire, a cast of characters from each century play out their respective dramas. The text explores topics such as the nature of truth and time and the difference between the classical and the romantic temperament, and the disruptive influence of sex on our orbits in life.

HEART HEART HEART
Valentine: She didn’t have the maths, not remotely. She saw what things meant, way ahead, like seeing a picture. Hannah: What did she see? Valentine: That you can’t run the film backwards. Heat was the first thing which didn’t work that way. Not like Newton. — The behaviour of heat involves blurring, just like time.
"idk, had a hunch"
“It is a defect of God’s humour that he directs our hearts everywhere but to those who have a right to them.” plot聪明,句子漂亮,还有一点伤感的真情流露来中和知识分子的irreverence.
