In doing so he shows how a non-linear conception of time and history balanced his famous rethinking of the question of space. Everybody thinks they know what is rhythm. In fact, everybody senses it in a manner that falls a long way short of knowledge: rhythm enters into the lived; though that does not mean it enters into the know.

三个基本概念：polyrhythmia, eurhythmia, arrhythmia。感觉还是从前学的文体学里的那个norm——break-the-norm的结构，但是作者点明是非二元而是三元的，所以polyrhythmia事实上是增加了一个纵深的面向吗？读完还是很困惑，但是out of window那部分的观察和分析有参考意义。
