很好的经典导读，语言文雅幽默却不晦涩。虽然伊格尔顿并没从Harold Bloom所重视的strangeness的角度勾勒这十八位英国经典小说家，但却指出了每位小说家写作的defining feature。读之前最好把相关作家的作品读完，伊格尔顿在文本细读时对sensibility要求颇高,几乎没有很幼稚的plot summary。

读了第一章
书不错，就是逼格太高…忘记英国人有modesty的表达习惯，所以看书名以为这是一本入门书，绝对是进阶版，推荐至少读过30本以上英国作家著作的朋友…
深刻不失生动，囫囵吞枣总算读完，拟读相应作家的作品，再重读。
只读了我感兴趣的几个作家的介绍，2005年的书，观点可谓超前二十年都不为过，有些观点至今还是研究热点！
